I have been wanting to revamp a chalkboard from my childhood.
I went to Wal-Mart, and to my surprise they had the chalkboard paint on CLEARANCE!!
So I was forced to buy it of course, and start my chalkboard re-do!
I started with my old chalkboard.
I painted several thin layers of the chalkboard paint onto the board.
The bottle said to apply 1 layer, let dry 1 hour and then apply another layer,
but I had a stubborn spot that wouldn't stay covered,
so I applied a lot more than 2 coats.
See the stubborn spot!!! |
I let it dry outside for most of the day,
and then over night inside.
Here is my final result:
I think that I am going to get some paint markers, and spruce it up a bit too.
This was so easy! On a scale from 1-10 it was a 2
(just because of the stubborn spot).
Now to find a good spot to hang it.....
UPDATE:
It is still not hung, but
I bought a paint marker, and went to town!!
It says "Just Chalkin, Maddi and Ella"
On a side note: When Maddi was little and we would be playing with chalk, I would ask her what she was doing, and her answer was always, Just Chalkin :)
